Our story, plan and goal
Who are we and why did we start farmit?
We are Lazar and Sava, the founders of Farmit, and we met on the first day of university. They say you shouldn't have a friend as a business partner, but our agreement from the start has been to do everything differently, so we're not too worried about that.
We came up with the idea and started working on Farmit in December 2021 with the goal of bringing to life the game FarmVille that we used to play as kids.

We started from a game, but we had no idea that our idea could solve serious problems:
We provide people from cities with quality vegetables they know how they are grown.
We provide producers with a secure market and higher income.
Where does the vegetables we buy in supermarkets and markets come from and why is change needed?
The vegetable supply chain is too long. The one who produces food is not the one who sells it, and we believe that this is a serious problem - an opaque way of production, too long storage, 50% of food is lost in the supply chain, and perhaps most importantly, the producer is forced to focus on quantity rather than quality, just to be able to earn.
Farmit aims to bring vegetables directly from the garden to your table. This way, freshly harvested vegetables arrive at your doorstep the same day. The farmer can focus on quality because even before planting, they know their customers who pay in advance and there is no food waste because production is planned.

failure, failure, then success…
Since we started (2021), we have experienced numerous failures, criticism, 'who needs this?', rejections, as well as negative comments from potential investors.
We didn't pay attention, nor did we give up, but we decided to go on our own and prove that what we are doing makes sense.

The first major success came in 2023, at a competition in Dubai, where we won 3rd place out of more than 1000 student startup teams.
After that, we won third prize at the competition in Germany (Danube Cup).
Our last competition was in Split, where we won 2nd place and a special jury award.
Official Opening and Initial Plan
In March 2023, we opened the company and officially started selling. The plan was to work with only one farm (Stošić Farm) in the first year and be fully involved in the entire production process.
The goal for this was learning - we wanted to know what it's like to engage in vegetable growing, how to plant, harvest, pack, and how delivery works.
This way, we wanted to understand how everything works and set up processes for further expansion.
Soon, we get our first customers, fill up our capacities, so Farmit officially starts operating.

First Delivery
In May, for the first time, we knocked on our customers' doors and delighted them with vegetables from their garden. The reactions were extremely positive. The best comment - "finally vegetables with smell and taste".
First Season - A Serious Boost
After the first delivery, there followed another 24 where we showed ourselves and others that our idea is possible. Customers got used to this delivery method, started to eat more vegetables, and we received feedback that means a lot for all future plans.
Current Situation
Farmit is no longer just Sava and Lazar, it is now a team of young people who want to make a healthy change. A bigger team, but the mission is always the same!
Through Farmit, we want to empower the local community, help people who produce food and give them the opportunity for secure placement.
We recently improved the web application, started sales for 2024, made agreements with 4 farms and officially expanded to Novi Sad.

Our Long-term Plan
We are not afraid to say it out loud - the plan is to become the largest platform in the world connecting the city and the countryside. We are aware that this is an ambitious goal, but we do not plan to stop until we achieve it!
